Donations

Waqf is an endowment made by a Muslim to a religious, educational, or charitable cause.

The website is available in English, French and Luxembourgish. Tax certificates can also be downloaded in German.

Donations

You can donate online via our donation page, by bank transfer, or by contacting the foundation.

Yes, the minimum donation is €1.

Yes. On the donation page you select the project or cause (and, where available, a specific fund within it). Your donation is allocated to the project you chose.

No. You can donate as a guest by card or Wero. However, guest donations are always anonymous and cannot be used for a tax certificate. To receive a tax certificate, set up recurring donations, pay by bank transfer or save your card, please create an account and log in before donating.

For card payments, a small processing fee charged by Stripe is deducted from the donation. A Waqf contribution (a percentage that depends on the project) is also retained to support the foundation’s Waqf. When you enter an amount, the donation page shows an estimated fee; it is an estimate because Stripe’s fees vary by card type.

Refunds are handled by our team. If you made a mistake, please contact us as soon as possible through the Contact page. When a donation is refunded you receive an email, and the amount is credited back to your original payment method within your bank’s or card issuer’s usual processing time.

Yes. After your donation, the confirmation screen lets you send us a short feedback message.

Payment

  • Credit / debit card (via Stripe): everyone

Yes. Card payments are processed by Stripe, a certified payment provider. WAQF.lu never sees or stores your full card number; only the card brand, last 4 digits and expiry date are kept so you can recognise a saved card.

Select Wero, then scan the QR code with your banking app or tap Pay with Wero. Wero payments are not confirmed automatically: your donation stays pending until our team checks the payment. If you are logged in, you must upload a screenshot of your Wero payment (JPG, PNG or PDF, max 5 MB).

Bank transfer is available to logged-in donors. When you select it, the page shows our bank details (IBAN, SWIFT/BIC, beneficiary WAQF.lu) and the communication to use (the project name). Make the transfer from your bank, then upload proof of the transfer (JPG, PNG or PDF, max 5 MB) and submit.

These payments cannot be verified automatically. An administrator checks your proof of payment against our bank account. Once verified, you receive an email saying your donation has been approved. If there is a problem, you receive an email explaining why it was not approved.

The email you received explains the reason. You can fix the issue (for example upload a clearer proof) and submit a new donation, or contact us through the Contact page.

Check your card details and make sure you completed your bank’s security confirmation (3-D Secure), then try again, or use another card, Apple Pay / Google Pay or Wero. If it still fails, please contact us.

Recurring Donations

Yes. Logged-in donors paying by card can turn on Recurring Donation and choose Weekly or Monthly. The same amount is then charged automatically.

Your card must be saved securely with Stripe so it can be charged automatically each period. The "save card" option is enabled automatically when you choose a recurring donation.

Log in, open your Profile and go to the recurring donations section. There you can pause an active donation, resume a paused one, or cancel it at any time.

We send you an email before your saved card expires. Please log in and add your new card in your profile so your recurring donations continue without interruption.

Tax Certificates

Yes. Registered (non-anonymous) donors receive a confirmation email for each donation, and all donations are listed in your Profile.

Fondation Waqf Lëtzebuerg is recognised as being of public utility. Under articles 109 and 112 L.I.R., donations to it are tax deductible from an annual cumulative total of €120. Please check with your tax adviser for your personal situation.

Log in and open the Certificates tab in your Profile. A certificate is available for each year in which you made approved donations, showing the total for that year. You can download it as a PDF in French, English, German or Luxembourgish.

  • Verified: the foundation has reviewed and approved this year. This is the official certificate for your tax return.
  • Undeclared: the year has not been reviewed yet. You can still download the certificate, but it contains a note that it is not yet approved. We email you when the certificates for a year are ready.

No. Anonymous and guest donations are not linked to your name, so they cannot appear on a tax certificate. To receive one, log in before donating.

Only approved / completed donations. Pending bank transfers or Wero payments are included once they have been approved.

My Account

Click Register and sign up with your email address, or use Google, Microsoft or Apple. If you sign up with email, confirm your address using the link we send you.

For your security, when you log in from a new device we send a verification code to your email. The code is valid for 10 minutes. Once entered, the device is remembered.

On the login page, click Forgot password and follow the link sent to your email.

  • View all your donations
  • Manage recurring donations (pause / resume / cancel)
  • Add or remove payment cards and set a default card
  • Download your yearly tax certificates

  • Update your personal details and password

The WAQF team may need your bank details (RIB) or a residence certificate, for example for tax certificates. Uploading them in your profile (PDF, JPG or PNG, max 5 MB) saves time if we need them.

Go to your Profile and use the delete account option (accounts created with email require password confirmation). Please cancel any recurring donations first.

Zakat

Use our Zakat calculator. Enter the assets you have held for a full lunar year (cash, gold, silver, investments, etc.) and your liabilities. Zakat is 2.5% of your net wealth if it is above the Nisab.

The Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must own before Zakat is due. On WAQF.lu it is based on the value of 87.48 g of gold, using a gold price updated daily. The current Nisab and the gold price used are shown in the calculator.

Zakat is distributed according to Islamic principles to eligible beneficiaries and projects validated by the foundation.

Yes. Go to the Zakat request form and fill in your contact details and situation. You can attach supporting documents (PDF, JPG or PNG, max 5 MB each). You receive an email confirming your request, and another one when its status changes.
